The Real Madrid soccer team's goalkeeper on Facebook asked his supporters to design a glove for him for the Saturday match against Barcelona Spain.

Many Hungarian candidates were on track but Csonka Gergo studying in Barcelona led competition virtually from the beginning . Unfortunately the image that one had to vote for was removed by Facebook several times, so he had to start all again. However, no effort was futile, just 20 hours after the submission of his design five thousand votes came up, so he won the glove design competition.

Iker Casillas has promised that the winner glove-maker can get two tickets to the 10 December match and get that dedicated glove from him .

This time I would like to introduce a truly exotic floral artist :Takuyo Williams . She is not only someone with Japanese heritage but she lives in the remote island of Hawaii - both places inspiring her art .

How old were you when first time the idea of being an artist came up ?

I've always enjoyed drawing and painting pictures. My parents really encouraged me to become a painter. By 12 years old, I was already painting with oil on canvas.

By 16, I enrolled in the art high school to become an fine artist. I tried various mediums in the school, I loved oil and watercolor the most. I was also deeply influenced by my Japanese heritage. Eventually I started to pursue drawing in Japanese traditional Sumi painting styles. I studied calligraphy as a child too, the brushes were almost identical.

Could you tell us about what kind of floral art you do ?

My focus is on painting flowers on silk. I love silk painting. I hand paint floral art on all different kinds of silks. I make my floral art into wall hangings, canvas art, and even silk scarves.

Silk's luster and softness remind me of a flower's petals. I love orchids, poppies, roses and all types of flowers.
I paint flower portraits. Each flower has a presence. Floral art also reminds me of my mother's and my grandmother's kimonos. My family is original from Kyoto. I grew up dazzled by the beauty and the color of Kyoto Yuzen kimonos.

Japanese art motifs are often flowers. My favorite flower is peonies. My home town has the peony festival during winter. I use to visit the shinto shrine garden in snow to see the blooming peonies there. Hawaiian flowers are just lively, cheerful and gorgeous. I want to capture the beauty of flowers and want to show the celebration of life. Flowers are the show stopper of natural world, and keep the circle of life going.

I also create floral wearable silk art. It's so luscious to wear a beautifully hand painted art on one's body. It's very different from looking at fine art on the wall. Scarves move with you, they change when they are scrunched. My silk scarves always surprise me when I finish painting and unhook them from the frame. They look totally different.

Who inspired or taught you?

I learned Japanese traditional paintings from master in Japan, and oil painting from a painter who spent time in both France and Japan.

I taught myself silk painting, so I feel the most free and true painting silk. I always leave the studio more inspired than dodging in, so perhaps I inspire myself.

I learned to focus and channel my creativity under my professors at Parsons School of Design. I learned a lot about professionalism from the famous, talented and dedicated art directors and graphic designers whom I worked for in NYC in my 20's.

I am heavily inspired by Japanese traditional painters of the 19th century. Their art was very traditional, using resin and rock mineral powder medium. Yet their work shows the influence Europe was having at the time. I love the Romanticism movement in Europe during the 19th century too.

In apparel world, Diane von Furstenberg. She is my big inspiration. She created wrap dresses and her print designs are stunning. I love wearing my scarves with her wrap dresses!

How often do you create ?

I paint everyday as much as I can without neglecting my family. :)

Which were the best moments for you so far as an artist ?

Definitely, when I hear from my galleries how happy my clients were when they bought my fine art pieces or scarves. I also love hearing from my customers on Etsy too. It makes my day when I read warm feedbacks on the web.

Which were the worst moments for you so far as an artist?

When my studio almost caught on fire. I ended up saving all my silk scarves. Several fine art works were destroyed, they caught fire. It happened recently. I am so glad, nothing really bad happened. I will paint those art again.

What advice would you give to other artist who is just starting out?

I would say, be good to yourself, enjoy the process of creating art. It's never too late to start making art. Make anything you want and don't quit. Mistakes are good. If you can make yourself happy others will follow.

Then I started to make experiments with that photo online while using zazzle tools . I opted for the "show white parts transparent" and this way i could change the background easily . I found that this pink was the best and I created every kind of items with that . telling the truth - I think it would be the best for a chocolate box. But as zazzle does not provide that - I could make a jewelry box , cards ,stretched canvas prints and a lot more .

And there seems to be no end to this process, on a rainy day you will always find me in a nearest bookstore going through books and books of art.

Over the past year almost everyday. The secret of improving your art is in practicing it...

The best moments are when your vision is all coming together, and when you look at your work you can say with the relief – this is it.

What advice would you give to other artist who is just starting out?

How old were you when the idea of being an artist first came up?

I was a late bloomer. In the early 90's, before the web became public, particle physics laboratories and universities used it as a means to communicate graphics electronically. I worked at such a facility and was blown away when Computing Division personnel gave us a demonstration. My boss seized the opportunity to use the web to provide educational resources for K-12 science teachers and students. I found myself sitting at my desk with new software and a Photoshop 2.5 book in my lap trying to figure out how to design graphics for the new website. One of my projects was to illustrate the plants found on the prairie surrounding the laboratory. Photoshop wasn't the right software for that project. I found myself, again, sitting at my desk with Adobe Illustrator vector software and a book in my lap. I was totally hooked and loved it.

Could you tell us about what kind of floral art you do?

I draw all my wildflowers on the computer using Adobe Illustrator software and incorporate gradient meshes, which give the flowers and leaves a more realistic look. I refer to Briton & Brown's "Illustrated Flora of the United States and Canada", 1913 editions for plant characteristics and the US Plant Database for colors.

Who inspired or taught you?

I would have to say my mentor, Liz, who first showed me how to use Illustrator way back when. She kept telling me to forget using Photoshop for drawing and learn Illustrator. It's very tricky software to use and I would get frustrated easily. I took a semester of Illustrator at a local college and got straight A's. That's when i decided, "Hey, I can do this."

How often do you create?
Now that I'm retired I draw something everyday, even if it doesn't end up on Zazzle. Sometimes I go back and look at my early drawings and think "yuk" and I update them.

Which were the best moments for you so far as an artist?

The best moments are when someone actually buys my work. It's hard to wrap my head around being considered an "artist." It's probably because I use the computer, which is very forgiving. Receiving such nice compliments from fellow Zazzlers also gives me a "great moment."

When I see a mistake on a drawing that's already been published. I cringe and hope no one notices before I can fix it.

What advice would you give to other artist who is just starting out?

Practice, practice, and practice more, take classes, and do research. See what other artists in your field are doing. It can be very inspirational and get you out of a slump. Join forums and discussion groups.

Although Kara Stewart is a teacher for her full time job, artistically she is a photographer and digital artist. Her photography covers a wide variety of subjects such as dogs, Native American, food, nature and homesteads, with flowers being some of her favorites to shoot. She has a photography website, Kara Stewart Art in Photography and a zazzle store,art in photography .

1. How old were you when the idea of being an artist first came up?

I was about 10 or 11 years old when I begged my parents for a camera for my birthday. They did end up giving me a Kodak Pocket Instamatic 110 (remember those?) and I remember them impressing upon me that it was not a toy but a ‘grown up’ product to be treated with great care. I took pictures of everything I could, and my fascination with photography was born. Over the years, of course, my cameras changed and I taught myself more about creating images with cameras as the tool.

2. Could you tell us about what kind of floral art you do?

My floral photographs are mostly macro photography. The tiny details in flowers are amazing and I like to capture them for all to see. I used to think that I was also mostly attracted to bold colors in flowers, but lately I have begun to experiment with black and white photography in flowers. I love taking ‘straight shots’ of natural objects, but I also love playing with those images on software, much as a painter may play with colors or brushes, to create unique works of digital art.

3. Who inspired or taught you?

I am self taught, but have been inspired by the work of other photographers in groups I belong to, as well as reading a ton of photography books and being inspired by the work I have seen in them.

4. How often do you create?

I photograph as often as I can, but out of necessity, it is balanced with my full time job and the other things that go along with turning an image into a product on zazzle – designing, promoting & marketing.

5. Which were the best moments for you so far as an artist?

The best moments for me as an artist are those when an image that I have carefully created turns out in a way that touches my eye, my heart and my mind all together.

6. Which were the worst ones ?

When I think I have my image set up so carefully and it doesn’t turn out!

7. What advice would you give to other artist who is just starting out?

Learn and read all you can from all sources – forums, books, tutorial videos. Be open to critique, hard as it is, but know when it is best to take the advice and best not to. Participate in all the means of practicing your art and improving that you can – join forums, join websites, participate in contests, network with similar artists. And enjoy creating!

How old were you when first time the idea of being an artist came up ?

I can not tell it .It was a long process . I have always loved doing craftwork as a hobby it made me relaxed .And telling the truth even nowadays I do not consider myself an Artist in the true sense of the word .I tend to call Artist my predecessor, those women who developped this richelieu style lacework 50 -60 years ago .I am just following their footsteps when I work preserving their traditions .There are thousands of old samples I have collected over the past few years, and from these antiques I design the newer , pieces that fit into a XXI. century environment. I create using those motifs and that is how I am recognised as a " folk artist of the applied art"

My hobby turned into a more concious activity by the time -it is a long proccess - as hobby means that we create things just for our pleasure .I am open for the others with my artwork when I participate in exhibitions and I am trying to promote my tiny boutique and my art ...

Could you tell us about what kind of floral art you do ?

The Hungarian folk art style vary according to regions . I specialized in the richelieu style lacework of Kalocsa area . This style was first characterized by white embroidered floral motifs surrounded by white lacework .Villagers of the area used to decorate their everyday textile objects by those motifs .You know they embroidered their hankies ,table clothes ,bed covers ,pillows ,curtains and their Sunday best . Later when folk dance groups were formed from villagers to entertain soldiers at their military stations during WWII those white embroidered flowers became colorful and big to get a more striking view on stage . That is when those motifs turned into the shapes that we call kalocsai style nowadays .

But I do the embroidery of other floral motifs as well . Virtually any, hand-drawn flowers can be embroidered even the ones in more realistic style .

Who inspired or taught you ?

My master was Auntie Szabo( officially Szabo Imrene) who herself is a master of folk art . She was the one who helped me on my way from being a hobby artist to be a more concious one .She regarded me as her disciple and taught me the practice and theory of her art as she kept telling "so far you have just followed your own head". She was the one who ecouraged me to get my pieces of art juried. This way the uniqueness of those pieces were recognised officially .

How often do you create ?

This is a good question, and rather ambiguous. Since this is my main occupation, I would say to this question : constantly and continuously. I do create even when I do comissioned artwork since they are all unique challenges ...

But the time for the great creation when I am trying to create something absolute original and unrepeatable is less and less . I feel very much inspired when I am invited to a prestigious art exhibition . Then I feel I must prepare for that . I do not neglect this type of creation either .I do not ignore my ideas, which are born in my head ...I would realize them sooner or later ...

Which were the best moments for you so far as an artist ?

There are plenty of them . I enjoy very much those moments when at festivals I display the way of creation . It means that I am creating there live at those craftwork demonstrations. Then people can see that my items are not mass products and I feel their admiration . Being recognised this way almost instantly is really uplifting .
There were other moments when we are touched .There was a kitchen wall cloth exhibition and at the opening ceremony the speech was on how those items evoke the atmosphere of our grandmothers kitchen .We all were in tears ..

Which were the worst ones ?

When one does things that she really enjoys there are no bad moments at all .All moments are great .I would rather say there are momentary setbacks of my professional life . It happened that I created something and I was very much satisfied with then "this perfect item" was rejected by the jury or was not displayed at the exhibition due to some errors in the composition or the coloring . But I do not let that things like that would eat me ... It is disliked by one jury and later it is liked by others ....

What advice would you give to other artist who is just starting out?

There is a hidden little artist in everyone. You have to look for that one in yourself patiently .You have to find the field where your talent could be developped (be it crafts, music, literature, etc.)... There is no need to be obsessed with the succes ...it is enough if we find pleasure in the creation itself... then our joy will radiate from the created items and will be noticed by others .. then the succes will come ...

I would describe my activities as an artist with three words :
thread ,needle , heart ....
